Armenia is an ancient country, in the most inhospitable region for Christians in the world. In addition, Armenia was the first nation in the world to accept Christianity as its state religion.  Armenia’s current border is with Turkey to the East, Azerbaijan to the West, and Iran to the South.   It is a challenging geography for a Christian nation.  Many nations have conquered Armenia, from the Persians, (modern day Iran), and most recently Turkey, which controls most of ancient Armenia.
The population of Armenia is approximately 3 million with the diaspora accounting for 10.5 million more people.    The residents of the diaspora are in most cases direct descendants of people murdered in the first Genocide of the 20th century.
Under the cover of World War 1, the Young Turks running Turkey, needed to blame someone for their battlefield losses.  It was decided to blame the Christian Armenians as the reason for their losing the war.  This begot a strategy to remove the Armenians from their ancient homeland.  They began arresting the intelligentsia, on April 24, 1915.  Thereafter they arrested the men in villages across Turkey, and systematically murdered them.  Women, children, and old men were marched through the desert until they dropped dead, or were murdered.  Exceptionally heinous and barbaric, was the killing of priests, and ministers.   They would strip them naked, have them march through a town square, and hang them on a cross as people yelled, “Let your Jesus save you now”.  Approximately 1.5 million Armenians were massacred during World War 1.  The United States Ambassador to Turkey, Henry Morgenthau, made note of these occurrences, and tried to end them to no avail.
In 2008 Barack Hussein Obama, as a presidential candidate, promised to recognize the first Genocide of the 20th century.  I was contacted by Armenians for Obama to vote for him based upon this false promise. As history will show, he lied about this issue.  As of now, 25 countries have recognized this as genocide by name, including Pope Francis and the Vatican, and 44 states in the US. What is Obama’s response?  He cites Turkey as an example of a “moderate” Muslim nation.
Hitler famously said “who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians”?  This was his pretext for the Holocaust that followed in World War 2.  George Santayana famously said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.

Mr. Obama, do you hear the cries of those who died needlessly?  How could you have selected Turkey to be your first international state visit?

“…Talaat Pasha, the powerful Ottoman interior minister during World War I, certainly didn’t disguise his objective. “The Government . . . has decided to destroy completely all the indicated [Armenians] persons living in Turkey,” he brusquely reminded officials in Aleppo in a September 1915 dispatch. “An end must be put to their existence . . . and no regard must be paid to either age or sex, or to conscientious scruples.”

US Ambassador Henry Morgenthau, flooded with accounts of the torture, death marches, and butchery being inflicted on the Armenians, remonstrated with Talaat to no avail. “It is no use for you to argue,” Morgenthau was told. “We have already disposed of three quarters of the Armenians. . . . The hatred between the Turks and Armenians is now so intense that we have got to finish them. If we don’t, they will plan their revenge. . . . We will not have the Armenians anywhere in Anatolia.”
