After careful consideration of its benefits and problems, by a unanimoius vote, the CVR has rejected Common Core and published its opinions to Ohio's elected Republican legislators.

RE: Common Core Education Standards
Dear Representatives Anielski, Dovilla and Baker,
On behalf of the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans (CVR) membership, I am writing to encourage you to support the repeal of Common Core in Ohio.
At the CVR's April 30th meeting, the membership voted unanimously to endorse the repeal of Common Core in our state.  Attendance at the town hall event, which preceded the April meeting, was standing room only.  Both meetings saw an influx of Independent and Democrat voters who, after the town hall event, shared with us their opposition to Common Core.
At both meetings voters pointed out that neither the federal government, nor the special interest/big business alliances which crafted Common Core, should have any place in guiding education in Ohio.  Nowhere does the United States Constitution grant the federal government such powers.  The use of federal grants and, in turn, state funding to coerce acceptance of these mandates at the local level is completely unacceptable.
The CVR membership was dismayed to learn of the failure of the General Assembly leadership to bring forward a vote on repeal during the Assembly's last session, not to mention the treatment of taxpayers who attended packed hearings on this matter.
We understand that Common Core is promoted by influential groups and individuals, including the governor. We respectfully remind the General Assembly leadership that it works for Ohio's taxpayers, and not the governor.
It is clear to the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans that Common Core should be repealed in Ohio immediately.  We ask you to actively support and vote for legislation to repeal Common Core in Ohio during this legislative session.
Thank you for all that you do for our communities.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with your comments and concerns.
