RE: Invitation to PM Netanyahu and Sanctions against Iran
Dear Speaker Boehner:
I write to you on behalf of the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans (CVR).
At our most recent meeting, the CVR membership voted unanimously for a resolution supporting your invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of the United States Congress on March 3
rd.
Please know that the CVR membership considers your invitation to be in the best interests of US foreign policy and world peace. It is also perfectly consistent with the separate and equal powers granted to Congress by the United States Constitution.
Additionally, the CVR membership voted unanimously to support legislation to extend and increase sanctions against Iran, if current negotiations to end Iran's nuclear weapons program do not result in a broad framework for an accord by March 24th and a detailed agreement by July 1st. Any such legislation should strengthen the verification process for verifying Iran's compliance. It should NOT allow the president to waive sanctions more than once, and then for no more than thirty days.
On behalf our membership, I encourage you to continue efforts to do everything possible to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Please do not let charges of political partisanship dissuade you from defending America's national security interests.
Thank you for your leadership.
Respectfully,
Dom Sciria
President, the Cuyahoga Valley Republicans
